Fed: DFAT warns human shields over Iraq
A senior foreign affairs official says Australians planning to become human shieldsin Iraq are foolish and may not be able to be evacuated if a war breaks out.
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade says there's not much it can do to helpAustralian civilians in a war.
A former political adviser to the New South Wales government, DONNA MULHEARN, is onher way to join other so-called human shields in Iraq opposed to war.
The human shield project has been organised by anti-war organisation Become the Change,and dozens of peace campaigners from Britain and the US plan to take part.
