Fed: US and UK warn of terrorist threats in Indonesia
The government has warned Australians in Indonesia to take sensible precautions, after
British and US government warnings of heightened terrorist threats against their citizens.
The Department of Foreign Affairs says Australians should take care, even though there
are no direct threats against them.
The warning comes after 16 bombs exploded in Aceh overnight.
The United States told Americans earlier this week to defer non-essential travel to
Indonesia and stay out of the provinces of Aceh, Maluku, Irian Jaya, West Timor, Central
and West Kalimantan and Central Sulawesi.
The UK government also warned of terrorist threats, but assured British citizens that
most visits to Indonesia were trouble-free.
