NSW: Police Association to investigate Scott's legal options

SYDNEY, Dec 15 AAP - The NSW Police Association will investigate taking legal actionagainst the dismissal of the state's most senior policewoman.

Lola Scott was dismissed as NSW Chief Superintendent on Monday following a three yearmisconduct inquiry, codenamed Retz.

The misconduct inquiry received about 40 complaints against Ms Scott of which 15 were sustained.

NSW Police Association president Ian Ball today said they would investigate what legalactions could be taken on Ms Scott's behalf.

"We're exploring the legal options," he said.

Mr Ball said Ms Scott's dismissal letter did not give a reason for her sacking.

"She received no explanation other than the letter which said she had been dismissedunder Section 51 1B (of the Police Act) which is dismissal without reason, without noticeand without review," he said.

He said the dismissal process should be transparent and reasons given for sacking.

"We're concerned with the ability of employers to take away employment without noticeand for no reason," he said.

Mr Ball said the association had received a list of the 40 complaints made againstMs Scott but were not informed which ones were found to have been sustained by the misconductinquiry.

"We don't know which ones (were sustained) and on what basis the findings were made," he said.
