MAYBE it's a sign of the times as one tiny Tamworth street sportsthree street signs with DIFFERENT names.
The error in Ingram Pit Lane was brought to the Herald'sattention by Sharpe Street resident Len Billingham.
He said: "It's ridiculous and it's been like it for many years."
The small road runs alongside Florendine Primary School, linkingSharpe Street and Florendine Street.
The three signs read Ingram Pits Lane, Ingrams Pit Lane andIngram Pit Lane - the later being the correct spelling.
In the 1890s through to the 1950s it was called Ingram's PitsLane, according to Tamworth Borough Council.
But searches on the Post Office's internet street finder searchengine are only successful as "Ingram Pit Lane".
Mr Billingham, aged 85, has lived in Amington for 36 years andbelieves something should be done to remedy the inconsistency.
"Well, I'd just like to know the real name and have that on thesigns - I don't see why it needs to have so many anyway, it's only asmall street!" he added. The Herald got in touch with bothStaffordshire County Council and Tamworth Borough Council todiscover who was responsible for the street sign error.
A spokesperson for the county council said: "The county councilmay have installed these signs on behalf of the borough council, which is the street naming authority.
"An inspector will go out on site and seek clarification on thecorrect spelling.
"Replacement signs can then be ordered when we have theresources."
